Kick-ass and Bad Lieutenant

Nicholas Cage in his two best roles so far, both this year?

“For some reason I find it very refreshing that I can be proud of Nicholas Cage on the screen again. Nice to see him putting in effort in a great film once more. The entire cast was wonderful to watch, the standout of course being Chloe Moretz playing Hit Girl. Her dynamic with Cage is pure entertainment (in a twisted kind of way) to watch.” Slash Film

“One of my unabashed favourites from Telluride this year, the film walks a beautiful line between presumably fulfilling the expectations of a crime procedural and making room for Herzog’s utterly inspired weirdness. Cage is more than up to the task, delivering his best (and possibly only) performance since Adaptation (Spike Jonze, 2002). The film fits such an improbable space between conventional action film and unhinged caricature of the same that I am sadly anticipating its distribution and reception to be a bumpy ride.”  – Kate Rennebohm

If Kickass is anywhere as funny and weird as Bad Lieutenant, I look forward to it.  This just in from Slash Film.  Could anything be more shocking than shooting a little girl?
