Merantau: kickass Malaysian action. But plot?
Posted: May 2nd, 2009 | Author: John | Filed under: Good Advice | Tags: action, film, martial arts, movie, trailer | 4 Comments »This is an example of some very recent, excellent martial arts action coming out of Singapore, a country which has produced few movies with much success in the western world. Riding on some of the cult success of “The Good, the Bad, and the Wierd,” Merantau could be a hit. Though, I have to wonder, is a “jaw-dropping finale’ enough to ride a movie into blockbuster success. Why don’t action movies take time to develop character and real plot?? Slash Film brought this trailer to my attention. This is impressive, but lacks a hook.

Just wanna make a correction, this movie is from Indonesia not Malaysia.

Yo man, Merantau is Indonesian movie. Not malaysian. If you watch the movie you should know instantly as this movie features the culture and the Pencak Silat style of "Harimau" or Tiger from West Sumatera Indonesia.
Thanks for the correction!
Hedge funds performed terribly last year. I don't think they are "hedged" at all. How are they different from mutual funds (other than charging an arm and a leg for their services)?
